If I ruled the world… (by Zuzana Poledniková from SEXTA)

24 01 2010

The first thing which I would do if I ruled the world, would is stop child labour and human trading.

A lot of kids in third world countries are forced to work in poor conditions without brakes and food. In my opinion all kids have got right of happy childhood.

The next thing I would also do is invest to the science. I think this is the way to solve many problem in Africa, Asia and South America too.Water filters can ensure clean water in areas where normally is polluted.Basic vaccination and medication could save many lives.. Every year famine kills more people than war conflicts and natural disasters together.

I would protect nature and use more renewable sources. I would recycle too.

In my opinion this world needs solve to more problems, like racism or the arms trade but I think that every small change is better than nothing. I hope one day I will have to write this essay again and I will not have to right about so serious issues because they will not exist any more and I will describe only positive events.

,,Teen“ Generation (by Linh N. T.)

21 01 2010

In the present everything is changing…prices, politics, currencies, people just whole world!
when we talk about people… what about young people? Is their behaviour better or worse now? Were young people 30-40 years ago better? So lets check it out….
Some peole call them just ,,teen” in short form. To this year includes the age of puberty. Its very annoying age and also difficult to describe this period, because it takes for each individual different. So back to topic.
Our english teacher gave us a homework. We have to do account about young people in the past and present. What they were? How were their behaviour?etc. I wanted ask my parents, but i found that i know it. Everywhere and everyone talks about it. On TV, in newspapers or magazine, on the radio also people or scientists discussing about it.
Just have a look around you. People with whom we meet, environment we live in etc.
I think that young people 30 years ago were very hard-working, schoolable and they wanted to help others. But now everything is different. Todays teen are more lazy, and someone dont attending school at all, but there are also those who want to make their dreams come true. But they are more and more shrinking. I think that it was the season where there was (eg. The government of Hitler)
So we still trying make our world better and i hope that our young people will join and help with this.

From school to school (by Akkenzhe K.)

18 01 2010

There’s a big difference between school, where I had studied four years ago, and school, where I study now, like a difference between country, where I lived and country, where I live now, even if the school, where I studied is in the country what’s located in central Asia and school where I study now, is in the country what’s located in central Europe. Of course, considering I miss my country, where I was born and that I spent my life there by wanting to move out from there, maybe, I have no right to judge…

I always preferred any other country than mine, Kazakhstan. I lived there 11 years and it was long enough to remember life there for hundreds years. No, it doesn’t mean that there was bad, terrible or something, but just that it was unforgettable years of my life. I lived in western Kazakhstan, in one of the biggest cities there, which called Atyrau, one of a few cities, where aren’t any mountains (compared to the Czech Republic), because it is located nearly to Caspian Sea. But it isn’t a sea; just it’s too large to be a lake. Probably, it’s the largest lake in the world. It was a big change to move from this city to another, especially to Ostrava in Czech Republic. Czech Republic, one of the world’s smallest countries, it’s in the central Europe and hundreds miles from Kazakhstan.

There are more differences between these countries when we talk about people, culture, traditions, buildings etc. But the biggest differences for me were differences between schools.

The differences between schools are that in Kazakhstan school rules and study systems are more rigidly and strictly than in schools in Czech Republic. Kazakhstan schools are more forward on some subjects like Math or Chemistry and so on. It was one of a few causes that I had easy to go from one school to another and still have good marks. For example, when we move in Czech Republic, I had to go to 7th class, which I did. And I was surprised to see my new math teacher explaining for children some new themes, which I had learned in Kazakhstan in 3rd class.

One of the next differences is uniform. By Kazakhstan rules, girls can’t have any nail polish on their nails during the lessons and anybody can’t wear on some abnormal clothes. There isn’t any special uniform, but the essential is to wear: for boys – suit, for girls – blouse with skirt, and all this has to be in shades of white and black. Of course, if somebody won’t wear that uniform, he or she can be deleted from school or called up to directors. Against this in Czech Republic isn’t any uniform or anything of these rules. For my view, Czech Republic is totally free country. But there are few downsides, too. For example, The Czech Republic is one of the countries, where are the biggest numbers of smokers, and so on.

I’m still trying to compare these countries, but someone told me that nobody can do it perfectly, because it’s like to compare your right hand and left…

Ostrava (by Benjamin R.)

11 01 2010

What do I imagine, when I close my eyes.

Things I like/dislike

Ostrava, the third biggest city in Czech Republic. I moved to this city with my family from small village called Nemile. When I close my eyes I imagine nice city, however most of my friends from village would probably imagine smoky city, created by many factories.  However the air is not so bad. In my opinion Ostrava is cool city, let´s go a little deeper through things I like.

I think the biggest privilege is that everything is near : shops, parks, cinemas, theatres, schools etc. If I look into the future I would like to also work in Ostrava there are many job opportunities . Also if you want to spend some good time with your family or your friends you can go to  main square, and watch all the sensational things. For example : Christmas tree in the middle of the square, market with carps, tree , meat, candies and all other things. I suggest you to come here during the night hours, the atmosphere is just perfect, you smell the Christmas in the air. Yes, I would like to continue talking about lots of amazing things, that can be done in Ostrava. But it would take ages.

Now I am going to talk about a thing I don´t like in Ostrava. As I said I moved to the Ostrava about two years ago. Every weekend I go back to visit my grandparents and rest of my family  in Nemile. In this village there is beautiful fresh air. You can relax here and forget all your duties. In Ostrava there is sometimes very bad air, but I am getting into it.

I really can say that I like Ostrava, but there are a few facts , which could make someone to move to another place.
